Twitter users give Cambridge tips on how to choose a mayor

Cambridge still hasn’t picked someone to represent their fair city.

According to a Wicked Local Cambridge report, after recently failing to reach a majority on who would take over as mayor, the city is still without a leader in 2012.

In Cambridge, the mayoral pick doesn’t come from voters, the person is hand picked by a City Council vote, according to the report.

Councilors need five votes to take the honor.

Wicked Local reports that in 2010, the city had a similar issue and went “mayorless” until late February.

According to the city’s website, Mayor David P. Maher’s term expired on December 31, 2011. A new mayor has not yet been elected by the City Council.

People on Twitter tried to right the situation by coming up with alternative methods for selecting a mayoral candidate.

Suggestions like throwing two contestants into “The Pit” at Harvard Square and having them battle it out, as well as obtaining the head of Ben Affleck made the list.
