Two men were arrested Monday night after they were allegedly caught red-handed vandalizing an MBTA Red Line train at Downtown Crossing station.

Corey Deltufo, 18, and Manuel Ortiz, 18, both of Boston, were spotted spray painting the operator's door with red paint around 8 p.m., according to Transit Police.

"Deltufo's hands were covered in red paint (same color that was used to deface train door) and they were in possession of Sharpie King Size permanent markers also in the colors used to deface train door," police wrote in their blog.

Deltufo and Ortiz were expected to be arraigned sometime today in Boston Municipal Court for tagging.

The incident comes almost exactly a year after two men were charged with trespassing and tagging MBTA property along the Red Line. In January, two historic MTA train cars were discovered defaced at Boylston Station.

In 2012, the MBTA said it woulddevote resourcesto cracking down on graffiti artists.
