Two shot near West Indian Day Parade in Brooklyn

Two people were shot close to the West Indian Day Parade in Brooklyn on Monday evening, according to news reports.

Emergency responders were called to the scene on Bedford Avenue near Montgomery Street in Crown Heights about 5:40 p.m. where they found the two victims, NBC 4 New York reported.

Both were taken to Kings County Hospital and are expected to survive.

It is not clear whether the shooting is connected to the parade.
