Unemployment rate remains unchanged...again

For the third consecutive month, the states unemployment rate remained the same. However, it is lower than the national average.

Once again, the state unemployment rate stayed still for July, not shifting from 7.6 percent for the third consecutive month.

Despite the addition of 12,700 jobs, the rate has remained unchanged since May, according to reports released yesterday.

The rate is 1.5 percent below the national 9.1 percent rate.

The State House News Service reports that there are still 263,400 residents unemployed in Massachusetts, a decrease of 41,000 since October 2009.
