Officials from the USS Constitution are warning people who live and work in Charlestown to not be frightened by a large police presence at the Charlestown Navy Yard on Tuesday morning.

The emergency response will be part of a training scenario being conducted by the USS Constitution.

A multiagency drill, including state and local law enforcement as well as other emergency response agencies, will be conducted Tuesday morning, according to a statement.

“Charlestown residents should not be alarmed by the presence of large numbers of law enforcement and emergency response vehicles in the vicinity of USS Constitution and Charlestown Navy Yard that morning,” the statement said.

The USS Constitution, at more than 200 years old, is the world’s oldest commissioned warship and is docked at the Charlestown Navy Yard.
