Police said an unidentified man clocked a cop on Saturday while he was being arrested for stealing clothing from a Manhattan Barney's department store.
Two men were caught in the act at the Madison Avenue store at around 5:30 p.m. over the weekend as they tried to sneak out with two pieces of clothing that totaled $860 dollars in price.
Officers apprehended one suspect, who remains in custody, as they cuffed the second man. However, the second man resisted arrest, fighting off the officer.
The man fled on foot, leaving the cop with injuries to his back. He was taken to an area hospital where he was soon treated and released.
Investigators are still looking for the accused shoplifter, who is described as a black man last seen wearing a black shirt, camouflage shorts and black sneakers.
Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS or to submit tips online.
