VIDEO: Boston University becomes Bee U before commencement

It was an apiphobic’s nightmare at Boston University yesterday when thousands of bees swarmed Nickerson Field just before the college’s commencement ceremony.

About 5,000 bees converged on a folding chair on the field about 45 minutes before the graduation, according to BU Today.

Bill Murray, the university’s plumbing department manager and adviser to the BU Beekeeper Club, was summoned to the field for his help.

Murray told BU Today that the bees were just following their queen.

“They’re not aggressive,” Murray said.

And then he proved it.

Murray then lifted the chair covered in bees, put it in a blue trash container and closed it.
