VIDEO: Cashier fires twice at masked thief in West Oak Lane holdup

Police are seeking a would-be robber who tried to hold-up a West Oak Lane bodega but fled empty-handed when a cashier drew a handgun and fired twice.

Police are seeking a would-be robber who tried to hold up a West Oak Lane bodega but fled empty-handed when a cashier drew a handgun and fired at him twice.

Police released surveillance footage today of the incident, which occurred Feb. 28 about 7:15 p.m.

The male suspect allegedly entered Serrata Grocery Store on the 7400 block of East Walnut Lane wearing a ski mask, pointed a handgun at the cashier and demanded money.

That's when the employee pulled out his own handgun and fired two shots, missing the suspect. The suspect fled through the main door and was last seen running south on 75th Street, through a driveway to the east, and then along 21st Street.

The suspect is described as a black male, about 6 feet tall with a medium build, wearing a dark green North Face jacket and blue jeans.
