Police are looking for a man who was caught on camera Aug. 14 stealing an SUV as it sat idling outside a Mantua coffee shop, then smashing the vehicle into a police car.

Investigators said a man at 6:10 a.m. parked his 2005 gold Dodge Durango with the engine running outside Fresh Donuts, located at 3914 Lancaster Ave., as he ran in the store.

As the victim was inside, an unknown man got into the SUV and fled the area.

Police said the suspect was last seen about a block away from the coffee shop on the 3900 block of Spring Garden Street, where he smashed into an unmarked and unoccupied police car.

He jumped out of the stolen vehicle as it was still moving, then fled the area on foot.

The suspect is described as a black male with a thin build.

He was last seen wearing a blue shirt with white letters across the front and dark-colored pants.
