[VIDEO] MBTA releases videos of T spitters to bring justice to bus drivers

Transit police are searching for two men who allegedly spat on MBTA bus drivers this month – so they released videos of the incidents in the hope of finding the suspects.

The first spitting assault happened around 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 4, near Washington and Harvard Streets in Charlestown. Surveillance video shows a black male wearing a dark shirt and a blue baseball spitting at the driver, who is out of frame. Police said they suspect he is in his late teens or early twenties.

He allegedly fled the scene after the incident, but if caught, would be charged with assault and battery, according to transit police.

Watch the video of that incident below:

More recently, on Oct. 10, video surveillance on an MBTA bus in Malden captured what appears to be a middle-aged looking white man also spitting on the driver, as well as lashing him.

According to a transit police report, the man became irate when the driver did not stop the bus.

A statement on the transit police blog reads: “The Transit Police Department will not tolerate assaults on MBTA
employees, especially while in the performance of their duties.”
