Police rescued a woman floating in the East River Wednesday afternoon.
At 3:30 p.m., police responded to a 49-year-old woman floating in the water underneath the Manhattan Bridge.
Detectives James Coll and Frank Stevens, of the Emergency Service Unit, swam 30 feet from the shore and brought her aboard an NYPD Harbor Launch Boat.
The woman was taken to Bellevue Hospital. As of Wednesday evening, she was in stable condition.
