Philadelphia police on Monday released surveillance footage of a suspect in the April 18 stabbing death of a 68-year-old fruit cart vendor in South Philadelphia.

Officers responded to the 400 block of Vollmer Street shortly after 5 a.m. for a report of a person with a weapon andfound the victim lying in front of his home.

He had been stabbed multiple times and died on the scene.

 

The victim was soon identified as Don Ly, a Vietnamese immigrant who ran a popular fruit cart in University City.

The suspect in the homicide was captured on surveillance video walking on the 2700 block of South Randolph Street, about five blocks from the scene of the crime.

He is described as a 5-foot-8-inch tall black or Hispanic male with a thin build and facial hair or a goatee.

The man was last seen wearing a dark-colored jacket and pants, a black knit hat and black Converse Chuck Taylor sneakers.
