VIDEO: Suspects sought in brutal North Philadelphia home invasion

The crime happened about 3 p.m. on the 400 block of West Sedgley Avenue.

Philadelphia police are seeking the public's help identifying three suspects in a brutal home invasion in North Philadelphia on Aug. 22.

Police this morning posted to YouTube surveillance video that shows the men approaching the victims' home. All three were dressed in bright green shirts and red hats.

The men reportedly stormed the home after convincing the 64-year-old homeowner they were with the Philadelphia Water Department and there to look into a water problem. One of them was armed with a handgun, police said.

The crime happened about 3 p.m. on the 400 block of West Sedgley Avenue.

The suspects tied up the victims and repeatedly pistol-whipped them. The homeowner's 54-year-old girlfriend sustained a fractured orbital bone and head injury in the attack, police said.

The suspects stole $250, a television and a cell phone.

Police describe all three suspects as black males.

The gun-toting suspect is 5 feet 10 inches tall, 240 to 250 pounds, 30 to 40 years old and of a dark complexion, police said. A second suspect is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall and about 180 pounds.
