Despite record low poll ratings, mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner appeared defiant in a 40-minute interview with BuzzFeed on Monday, saying he takes responsibility for his mistakes and plans to “stand up strong.”
“I did these things. No one did this to me; I did this to me. I made these mistakes. I’m glad they’re behind me, ” Weiner said when asked if he felt like he was set up by Sydney Leathers, his former sexting partner who has since cashed in on the scandal.
Weiner also said he hasn’t exchanged anything inappropriate with Leathers going back a year.
When asked if he is still in therapy, Weiner replied, “Apparently, you’re never out of therapy.”
“I see my therapist when I can. It’s tough on the campaign trail,” he said.
Weiner may have also let some important information slip when he talked about his wife Huma Abedin’s professional future.
He was asked if he knew what role she would play in a possible 2016 Hillary Clinton presidential campaign.
“I do. I’m not telling you,” he only said.
