A Grays Ferry man was shot twice by an armed intruder inside his row home Monday night.

The home invasion occurred about 8:20 p.m. on the 3100 block of Tasker Street, police said.

The 58-year-old victim, identified in reports as a Vietnam veteran, confronted the intruder after he went downstairs upon hearing loud banging on the front door to his home. He was shot during a struggle with the armed suspect, who reportedly knocked the door from its hinges to gain entry to the row home.

The victim was rushed to an area hospital in critical but stable condition with gunshot wounds to his arm and stomach.
