Seven teenagers from Virginia fell ill during a matinee performance of “The Phantom of the Opera” and were hospitalized on Saturday with what appeared to be a nasty stomach flu otherwise known as the norovirus, FDNY said.

The teens, who were in New York City on a school trip, were at the Majestic Theatre near Times Square when they came down with nausea, vomiting and dizziness, the fire department said.

The stricken students were ushered out of the theater and transported to St. Luke’s Hospital at about 3:40 p.m.

The norovirus has made headlines for wreaking havoc on cruise ships in the last few months. In the students’ home state of Virginia, one school in Alexandria was closed on Friday after nearly 230 people came down with the same bug.
