A woman died this morning after falling from a 12th story balcony at a high-rise apartment building along the Delaware River.

The incident happened about 4:30 a.m. at the Residences at Dockside, 717 S. Columbus Blvd., on Penn's Landing, NBC10 reports. It was initially reported that the woman died after falling from the balcony into the river, but NBC10 reports she actually fell from the 12th floor balcony to a fourth floor balcony.

The woman has not been identified. She reportedly was visiting a friend who lives in the riverside high-rise.

The circumstances of the incident remain under investigation.
