Vice President Joe Biden’s son, Beau, was treated at a Delaware hospital yesterday for what doctors believe was a mild stroke.
Beau Biden, 41, the Delaware attorney general, was in good spirits, fully alert and likely to make a complete recovery, a statement from the vice president’s office said.
He was taken to Christiana Medical Center in Newark, Del., yesterday morning after “having what we believe to be a mild stroke,” said Timothy Gardner, medical director for the Center for Heart and Vascular Surgery at the hospital.
Beau Biden was later driven by ambulance to Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia for further treatment and examination, though officials earlier said “we expect him to make a complete recovery.” He arrived in Philadelphia at about 6 p.m.
Joe and Jill Biden were at Beau’s side at the hospital.
