W. Philly soldier killed

Army Staff Sgt. David Weigle, a city resident with a wife and son, died during combat in Afghanistan last weekend, the military said yesterday.

WEST PHILADELPHIA – Army Staff Sgt. David Weigle, a city resident with a wife and son, died during combat in Afghanistan last weekend, the military said yesterday.

Weigle, of West Philadelphia, was killed by an improvised explosive device used against the Humvee he was traveling in during a roadside attack. Weigle, 29, and another soldier died Sunday. They were assigned to the 101st Airborne Division out of Fort Campbell, Ky.
