A Wakefield police officer was hit by an SUV while working traffic detail on Wednesday morning.

Officer Joseph Conway, a 38-year veteran of the Wakefield Police Department was directing traffic in the intersection of Main Street and North Avenue when he was struck by a 2011 Honda Pilot at 7:15 a.m., WCVB reports.
A 39-year-old Stoneham man was operating the SUV when he turned the corner and struck Conway.
Conway was transported to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, where he is currently being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Authorities are looking further into the investigation. The Stoneham man operating the Honda Pilot did not suffer any injuries, and has not been charged with anything.
