Marty Walsh

Marty Walsh will become the next mayor of Boston today and will give an inauguration speech at Boston College’s Conte Forum that will touch upon a wide range of issues.

In an advance copy of Walsh’s inauguration speech prepared for delivery, Walsh repeatedly talks about togetherness and urges Bostonians to work together for the future of Boston.

“Together, we are all taking an oath to make our beloved city even better. Because that’s what it will take -all of us, working together,” Walsh will say, according to his prepared remarks.

“I am listening – and I always will.I will listen. I will learn. I will lead.”

Walsh will also repeat a campaign promise to revamp the Boston Redevelopment Authority and will talk about conducting a spending audit of the Boston Public School to analyze the effectiveness of spending on education.

Walsh will also talk about closing the gap between all Bostonians.

“We will expand opportunity so it reaches every person in every corner of our city. We cannot tolerate acity divided by privilege and poverty. We will protect and grow our sense of community. For it is Boston’s greatest source of strength,” Walsh will say, according to his prepared remarks.
