On the eve of National Donut Day, mayoral hopeful Anthony Weiner may have bought into the stereotype about cops and their favorite pastries a little too publicly.
The former congressman, speaking at Temple Shaare Emeth in Canarsie, was discussing putting officers on bike and foot patrols when he joked, “I think a few of them could use a few hours on a bike, if you know what I’m saying.”
Afterward, he walked the statement back a bit, saying he wanted cops to “go out and walk and to bike and just be a presence in the community,” the New York Post reported.
At the same event, Weiner also reportedly asked one questioner if she was flirting with him.
