A total 32,659 active job advertisements serving the Philadelphia area were posted online in April, an increase of 14 percent from the same time last year, according to a monthly economic report released Monday by City Controller Alan Butkovitz.
Registered nursing was the top occupation, with 1,276 active help wanted ads in April seeking Philadelphia hires.
Computer systems analysts came in number two, with 762 openings, following marketing managers with 742, web developers with 658 and management analysts with 622.
The Comcast Corporation ranked tops as far as employers with the most online help wanted ads, posting 599 job openings in April.
They were trailed by the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia with 427, Deloitte with 282, Temple University with 240 and Urban Outfitters, Inc., with 234.
The report also noted the city's unemployment rate has declined for the past three consecutive months, reaching 9.6 percent in April compared to 11.7 percent in January.
