CORONA PARK – The N.Y. Mets have presented a list of a dozen candidates to take over a 49 percent minority interest in the team. The ballclub has had little luck finding buyers since owners Fred Wilpon and Sal Katz lost out in Madoff’s Ponzi scheme.
Sources told The New York Post that Tampa Bay Rays owner Stuart Sternberg, a Brooklyn native and Mets fan, might be interested if the Wilpons were offering a bigger piece of the pie.
