Willingboro man charged in South Street homicide

Philadelphia police have charged a Burlington County, N.J., man with murder in connection with a shooting death on South Street on Sunday morning.

Aaron Howard, aka Lance Smith, 24, of Willingboro, is charged with murder, aggravated assault, simple assault and related offenses, according to police.

Howard is accused of shooting and killing Demetry Presley, 21, of Sicklerville, N.J., on the 100 block of South Street about 1:27 a.m. Sunday. He allegedly fired a gun into a crowd of people during a melee that began inside Mixed Plate bar and restaurant, located at 216 South St.

Presley was struck several times in the body by the gunfire. He died at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital at 7:35 p.m. Sunday.
