In offensive billboard news, the company Wodka Vodka has reportedly put up a billboard above Riverside Drive that promises “Christmas quality, Hannukah pricing.”
Two dogs sitting side by side, one wearing a Santa hat, the other a yarmulke, illustrate the slogan.
The tagline, first spotted by a New York Times reporter, has a rich history too. In one episode of The Simpsons, Costington’s department store advertised “Christmas presents at Hannukah prices.”
The holiday ad has some New Yorkers in a tizzy, but maybe they should just get into the holiday spirit — and down some vodka.
UPDATE: The Anti-Defamation League is reporting that Wodka Vodka will be taking down the billboard immediately. We guess they got the press they asked Santa for!
