RIVERSIDE – A Stony Brook woman who hit and killed an 11-year-old girl in Smithtown last year, admitted yesterday that she was high on heroin at the time.
Maureen Lambert, 21, pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter, driving while impaired and leaving the scene of an accident in Suffolk County court. She faces a four- to 12-year sentence at her Dec. 8 sentencing.
Courtney Renee Sipes was crossing East Main Street with her mother and brother when Lambert, who was going 60 mph in her SUV, ran her over on Nov. 24, 2009.
