Police have arrested 44-year-old Alex Santiago in the fatal slashing of his girlfriend, Tara Beardsall.

A man is suspected of fatally slashing his girlfriend in the neck before turning the knife on himself Saturday at a Sunset Park home, police said.
Tara Beardsall, 31, ran into the street screaming and bleeding from the neck at about 10:30 Saturday night, witnesses said. She was pronounced dead at Lutheran Hospital.
Her unidentified boyfriend, who appeared to have slit his own throat, was in critical condition as of Sunday morning.
Beardsall had an order of protection issued against her boyfriend after a previous assault, the New York Daily News reported.
