The person found shot to death on a street in a quiet South Jersey town has been identified as an Ohio woman, the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office announced this afternoon.

Riverton Police responding to 911 calls found Te'Aira Denise Earvin, 22, dead on the ground on Carriage House Lane between Lippincott and Thomas avenues in the Burlington County river community yesterday shortly before 5:30 a.m.

The death is being ruled a homicide, officials said. There have been no arrests made yet.

Anyone with information is asked to call Burlington County Central Communications at 609-265-7113.

Riverton Police Chief John Shaw posted on the Riverton Police Facebook page yesterday that the local department is working in conjunction with the Prosecutor's Office in Burlington County.

"We want you to know you are safe to participate in all of your normal daily activities, including being outside, jogging, walking your dogs, etc.," he said on Facebook.

Cinnaminson Patch reported Shaw said the message was a "pre-emptive strike" to put residents' minds at ease. He also told Patch he believed the last fatal shooting in the borough was more than 30 years ago.
