No longer will New Yorkers need to miss work for a cumbersome ticket hearing. Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced a new program yesterday that allows people to contest tickets online.
The online hearings are available for parking tickets and others issued by the Environmental Control board, like health and sanitation code violations.
“No one likes to get a ticket, but it shouldn’t have to be so difficult and time-consuming to contest one,” Bloomberg said.
People who want to argue a ticket can enter a written defense and submit supporting materials like photos. Then a judge sends out a decision through e-mail or regular mail.
