Lock up homes, sheds: Police

More than fresh air is creeping in through doors and windows.

Police are warning people to lock up their doors and windows after a number of recent break-ins throughout the HRM.

“This time of year people are opening their doors and windows and they want to get the fresh air into their house after the winter, and often times they forget to lock the door when they’re done,” said Const. Brian Palmeter, a spokesman for Halifax Regional Police.

“We just want to remind citizens to be vigilant and lock their doors and windows and same with their sheds.”

Although he hasn’t seen many thefts from sheds yet this year, it is a seasonal problem.

“People are accessing their sheds to get toys and lawn tools out and they often forget to secure it,” he said.
