London Lightning coach suspended one game

LONDON, Ont. – London Lightning head coach Michael Ray Richardson has been suspended one game and fined by the National Basketball League.

The suspension, according to an NBL spokesperson, was the result of a verbal incident involving an opponent in the Lightning’s 111-94 win over the Halifax Rainmen last Thursday in London.

“The National Basketball League of Canada looks to establish and maintain the highest standards of professionalism and good sportsmanship both on and off the court,” league commissioner John Kennedy said Tuesday in a statement.

London (19-5) leads the league’s overall standings. Richardson will miss London’s game against the Oshawa Power on Feb. 5.
