A new season means a new theme for Eataly’s rooftop. The warm weather brings with it Sabbia, or “sand” in Italian, transforming the beer garden into a beachside bar decorated in nautical touches like life preserver napkin rings and buoys strung on ropes along the ceiling, beach chairs, cabanas and colorful paper parasols as if you’re floating inside a tropical drink. Grab a dozen buttery Island Creek oysters from a raw boat bar, or go with local swordfish and seared shrimp from the menu of summery, pan-Italian hot and cold plates. The wine list is predictably extensive, but there are also cask ales, sparkling wine cocktails and spritzes by the carafe (Sorrento, take me away). RELATED: Mad. Sq. Eats will have poké, grilled cheeses and eight sangrias To get to Sabbia, enter Eataly (200 Fifth Ave.) on 23rd Street and take the elevator on the left to the 14th floor.
