Coney Island’s Luna Park was evacuated on Tuesday night after reports that the Astrotower was unstable.

Firefighters and officers closed off the area around the 272-foot-tower around 5 p.m. on Tuesday after reports that it was swaying in the wind, The New York Times reports.

The Department of Buildings was inspecting the tower on Tuesday night, looking for possible structural stability issues.

The tower has been known to sway before, but visitors said what they saw on Tuesday was troubling.

“I’m so worried that it’s going to fall on top of the Cyclone or the Wonder Wheel. I’ve never seen nothing like it,” one nearby resident told the Times.

Luna Park released a statement late Tuesday night saying the Department of Buildings determined that the Astrotower is stable, but the Cyclone and the part of the park next to the Cyclone would remain closed until at least Wednesday afternoon, when another announcement is expected to be made.
