Eating a healthy lunch these days can be a challenge, but it’s a breeze at The Beet Organic Café in The Junction.

The menu, designed by the owners — a certified nutritionist and homeopathic doctor — is 95 per cent organic. So even if you order a burger, you’ll be getting a really nutritious one.

I can’t resist the Bison Burger ($13, add raw cheddar cheese for $1) — made of a mix of juicy local, organic bison and minced onions, topped with lettuce, tomato and house mayo, and placed in between a soft, sesame seed bun. A remarkably tasty, lightly-dressed salad topped with sunflower seeds and shredded raw beets, and rosemary potato wedges round out the plate.

It is a filling, mostly satisfying meal, though the bison is slightly bland.

Fresh juices (12-oz $6, 16-oz $8) add extra vitamins and refreshment.

Healthy doesn’t have to mean boring. At least not here.
