Restaurants have been pulling out the sidewalk seating and opening the doors to their backyard patios, but it’s not al fresco season until the outdoor markets start opening.

First up is Mad. Sq. Eats, which returns April 30-May 27 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. in Worth Square, on Fifth Avenue between 25th and 26th streets. New to the annual Urbanspace market are MeltKraft’s grilled cheese sandwiches, made with milk from their own dairy farm upstate, and the Takumi Taco team is championing spring’s hot new food trend with Gotham Poké’s Hawaiian-style raw fish served over grain and rice bowls.

There’s also creative scoops by Ice & Vice, a burger-only stand by Beatrice Inn, Korean-style bibimbap and ramen at Chingu, and the modestly named Paella Shack by Barraca is destined to be a hotspot with its eight varieties of sangria.
