At Tip Top Bar & Grill, Valentine’s Day goes political.
Every Tuesday night —Take Action Tuesdays—folks gather at the fave Bed-Stuy dive bar to write letters to their representatives while enjoying $5 shot and beer specials. But the libations only help the ink flow: in the past weeks, they’ve mailed over 300 postcards, according to organizers Jenn Sweeney and Maggie Bard. For the Valentine’s Day edition, the group recommends thinking of it as though you’re mailing Valentines to that “special someone who is standing up for your rights as a human being.” Bard and Sweeney will provide sample writing prompts, addresses for elected officials galore, postcard templates from the Women’s March “10 Actions/100 Days”initiative, plus additionalmaterials if you’d like to design your own.
