A Chelsea man charged with the slaying of two engaged doctors in their South Boston home in May was arraigned Monday in Suffolk Superior Court.
Bampumim Teixeira, 30, was arraigned on two counts each of first-degree murder, armed robbery and kidnapping as well as one count of armed home invasion. Teixeira was ordered held without bail.
Teixeira reportedly smiled in the courtroom Monday morning as relatives of the two doctors, Richard Field and Lina Bolanos, watched the arraignment with tears in their eyes, WHDH reported.

Teixeira is accused of fatally stabbing Field, 49, and Bolanos, 38, in their South Boston luxury condo on May 5.
His lawyer entered a not guilty plea for the seven indictments. He has been held behind bars since his May 8 arrest.
Officials said that police found the doctors with their hands bound and throats slashed while responding to a report of a man with a gun and a possible robbery.
When police entered the home, they saw an intruder, later identified as Teixeira, and shot him, believing him to be armed. Prosecutors say that Teixeira had knowledge of the building and its layout because he previously worked there as a concierge.
Teixeira has two larceny convictions on his record, according to the Suffolk district attorney’s office, for bank robbery in 2014 and 2016. Before the May incident, he had recently been released from prison after serving nine months.
He is due back in court on Sept. 12.
