A man from Queens has been charged for sexually abusing and robbing a 12-year-old girl Wednesday morning at a neighborhood park, prosecutors said.

Soloman Hudgins, 24, of Flushing, is currently awaiting arraignment on charges of sexual abuse, robbery and endangering the welfare of a child.

According to the charges, the girl left her house Wednesday morning to meet a friend at Bowne Playground. That’s where Hudgins allegedly jumped the young girl from behind and pulled her to the ground. He’s then accused of pulling at her clothing, opening her shorts and sexually abusing her as she attempted to push him away and cry for help.

Hudgins allegedly grabbed the girl’s iPhone and earbuds out of her hand as she tried to call someone for help. He also pulled her shoes off and took two packs of cigarettes, one of which that had a lighter inside, before leaving the Flushing playground and dropped his wallet by the victim, according to prosecutors.

Police were able to identify the man as Hudgins because of documents they found inside the wallet.

“No person, young or old, male or female, should have to worry about fending off a sexual attack on the streets of our city at any time of the day or night. The offenses of which the defendant has been charged are crimes of violence that pose a serious threat to public safety and which warrant vigorous prosecution,” Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said in a statement.

If convicted, Hudgins faces up to seven years in prison.
