An HIV-infected repeat pedophile who befriended a poor single mother to gain access to her seven-year-old son has been convicted of repeatedly sexually assaulting him.
Donald Mumford, 56, showed no reaction yesterday as Ontario Superior Court Justice Frank Marrocco found him guilty of eight charges, including aggravated sexual assault and threatening death.
Crown prosecutor Jill Witkin told the judge she will be seeking his approval for a psychiatric examination to determine whether Mumford is a suitable candidate for dangerous offender designation, under which he would be jailed indefinitely.
