Man dies in three-alarm Revere fire

A resident of a Revere apartment building was killed in a fast-moving fire that severely damaged the structure late Saturday night.

A 64-year-old man died in the fire, according to the Suffolk district attorney’s office, which did not release his identity.

The three-alarm fire broke out about 8:45 p.m. at 190 Campbell Ave, according to the fire department. Flames were coming from the upper floors of the building when fire crews arrived. The fire was so intense that it compromised the roof as firefighters were trying to battle the flames.

Three Revere firefighters, a Massport firefighter and a Revere police officer were taken to a hospital for injuries. Another resident was also taken away for injuries.

There were eight apartments in the four-story building.

The cause of the fire is being investigated, but authorities said there is no preliminary evidence to suggest it was intentionally set.
