A 68-year-old man from Maryland was thrown through a tour bus windshield when the vehicle came to a sudden stop while the man was standing, NBC reports. CBS New York reports the horrifying incident occurred around 11 a.m. near the Holland Tunnel at JFK Boulevard East and Baldwin Avenue in Weehawken, New Jersey. “I came to this traffic light here, the light turned red. I came to a stop and unbeknownst to me, there was somebody standing up in the bus, which I wasn’t aware of,” the bus driver explained to CBS. “As I came to a stop, he just went right through the windshield.” “I just couldn’t believe it, I mean, the man just went out the window,” a passenger said.
The man, who has been identified as Edward Meerholz of Bel Air, Maryland, was reportedly walking in the aisle of the bus near the third row of seats. When the bus came to a stop, he was launched through the windshield, which did not shatter. Meerholz reportedly survived the accident and was taken to Jersey City Medical Center.
