Man facing charges after alleged road rage incident

A 26-year-old man has been charged in relation to an alleged road rage incident last week that saw the victim punched in the face and have his front driver’s side window smashed out.

Halifax RCMP say the 26-year-old was arrested Thursday afternoon in relation to the incident last Friday evening on the St. Margarets Bay Road.

Police say a 20-year-old man was driving his 2005 Ford Escape westbound by Exit 2 near Highway 103 when a Honda Civic came along on the merge lane.

Police say the female driver of the Civic ran out of room, pulled behind the Ford Escape and tailgated the vehicle.

The victim pulled over to let the car go by, say police, but the female driver stopped, got out and screamed at him to get out.

A male passenger then exited the Honda Civic and police allege the man came up and punched out the driver’s side window and punched the victim in the face as he drove away.

Police say the suspect has been released and will appear in Halifax provincial court on May 26 charged with assault and mischief under $5,000. No charges are being laid against the female driver.
