It never hurts to meet your new neighbors, but one Kips Bay resident might want to try a more traditional route next time.

An unidentified man who just moved into a fourth-floor apartment on East 26th Street in Manhattan was with friends on the roof when he opted to return to his apartment via the building’s ductwork, the New York Daily News reported.

The man ended up on the first floor, stuck in the kitchen wall of resident Gjyste (Julie) Margilaj, who heard a loud crash coming from the room.

“I freaked out for a couple of minutes,” Margilaj said. “Then I went over to the kitchen, and I heard someone panting and breathing like they were in obvious pain. They were freaking out.”

Margilaj said she opened a vent so the man could breathe until officials could break through the wall to rescue him, which took about 45 minutes.

She said the man “wasn’t coherent at all. … I asked him if he was on drugs and he said, ‘no.’”

The man was not injured but was taken to Bellevue Hospital to be evaluated, police said.
