Man gets ticketed after two hit-and-runs in Cole Harbour

A 43-year-old man has been ticketed after one car was involved in two hit-and-runs in Cole Harbour yesterday.

Around 7:30 a.m., police say a black Intrepid hit a parked pickup truck on Arklow Drive, and then continued on. Police say the driver of the Intrepid then hit a cyclist at the corner of Forest Hills Drive and Chameau Crescent without realizing it.

“He thought he heard something, looked behind him and couldn’t see anything, so he thought it might have been something wrong with his vehicle,” said Halifax RCMP spokesman Cpl. Joe Taplin.

The cyclist, 20, had minor cuts and bruises but didn’t require medical attention.

After witnesses gave the RCMP a plate number and description of the car, officers arrested the 43-year-old at his workplace just after 9 a.m.

Police later learned the driver had tried to contact the owner of the parked pickup truck.

The man will receive a summary offence ticket for failing to remain at the scene of the accident involving the cyclist.
