A man in his 30s is recovering in hospital following an early morning shooting outside a Kingsway restaurant early yesterday morning.
The shooting occurred at 2:30 a.m. in the 2500 block of Kingsway. Bloody snow and tissues could be seen on the sidewalk outside the Ohukuya Japanese Restaurant.
Police found the injured man lying on the ground and transported him to hospital where he underwent surgery for non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators closed Kingsway between Slocan and Earles Street for several hours, reopening the road around 7:30 a.m.
Police did not say whether the shooting was targeted or gang-related. There have been more than 30 shootings in and around the Lower Mainland since the beginning of the year.
