Man involved in early morning Canton standoff dies from injuries

The man who barricaded himself inside his Canton house after allegedly stabbing his brother died from self-inflicted wounds on Tuesday evening.

Larry King, Jr., 49, died from serious knife wounds he sustained during a standoff with cops, police said.

The standoff closed down a portion of the Canton neighborhood early Tuesday morning after police responded to a report of a stabbing.

Officers thenwent to investigate the stabbing on Washington Street at about 2 a.m., where they found a man who had a non-life threatening wound to his chest. He was taken to a nearby hospital.

A second man, the victim’s brother,King,barricaded himself in the home as authorities helped the victim. Officers then evacuated a woman before setting up a perimeter, and called in the SWAT team and the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad, according to Canton Police.The woman was not harmed.

Negotiators were unable to make contact with the man after he allegedly threatened officers.

Canton Police said that about four hours into the standoff, officials determined that the suspect might be suffering from a self-inflicted injury. SWAT team kicked in the doors at about 6 a.m., and found that King had life-threatening wounds.

He was rushed to a Boston area hospital, but ultimately succumbed to the injuries.
