One man was killed when he was hit by an SUV as he ran across Bruckner Boulevard after allegedly taking beer from a nearby bodega.

Around 12:20 a.m. on Monday, a man was struck by an SUV in Mott Haven near the corner of East 149thStreet and Bruckner Boulevard, causing fatal injuries, police reported.

The SUV, a 2016 BMW X5, was traveling westbound on Bruckner Boulevard’s inner roadway when it struck the pedestrian who was crossing the road from north to south outside the designated crosswalk, authorities added.

Police told the New York Daily News that the man had allegedly stolen beer from a nearby bodega before the collision.

The SUV remained at the scene as the investigation into the incident was ongoing.
