Man sentenced to 25-to-life for fatal Williamsburg crash

A Brooklyn man was sentenced to 25 years to life on Monday for a fatal 2013 crash that left a young Williamsburg couple and their premature baby dead.

Julio Acevedo, 46, was convicted of second-degree manslaughter at trial earlier this year.

Jurors found that just after midnight on March 3, 2013, Acevedo was racing up Kent Avenue at 70 mph, weaving through cars when he crashed into a livery cab making a left turn at Wilson Avenue.

The crash killed passengers Nathan and Raizy Glauber. Raizy Glauber was seven months pregnant, and doctors delivered her son, Tanchem alive, but he died the next day.

Acevedo fled the scene after the accident, and was picked up in Pennsylvania four days later.

Brooklyn DA Ken Thompson said Acevedo received a longer sentence because of his criminal history as a persistent felony offender.
