Man struck and dragged by downtown bus

Halifax Regional Police say a 21-year-old man was struck by a bus after running into the street in downtown Halifax.

Police say at 11:13 p.m. a charter bus was turning right from Duke onto Barrington Street when the driver and passengers heard a noise.

The bus pulled over onto Barrington, and by this time police say the man had been dragged under the bus for a few feet.

A police spokesperson said yesterday witnesses told them the victim was running on Duke and ran into the turning bus.

The victim was taken to the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax with what police say is serious injuries.

An investigation in the cause of the crash continues and police say so far no charges have been laid. Police didn’t know the name of the charter bus company.
